Snappy Menu – Privacy Policy

The short version

Snappy Menu has no accounts. We don't ask for your name, email or phone number, we don't sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising.

What we collect and why

To read a menu and keep your history, we handle:

• Menu photos you take or choose. They're uploaded to our servers so the menu can be read, and deleted after 30 days.
• The menus we read from them: restaurant name, dishes, descriptions, prices and allergens. They're kept as your history until you delete them.
• A random ID that the app creates on your phone. It ties your history, your daily free picture and your subscription together. It isn't your advertising ID and isn't linked to your name.
• Dish names you ask to hear with "Say it for me".
• How the app is used: events such as a menu scanned or a dish opened (including restaurant and dish names), your device model, system version and app version, sent to our analytics provider with the random ID. We don't use your IP address to work out where you are.
• Purchases. Subscriptions go through the App Store or Google Play and RevenueCat. We never see your payment details.

Dish pictures and Explore

Dish pictures are drawn by AI from the dish's name and description. They're illustrations, not your photos.

Dishes from scanned menus (name, description, price and picture) can appear in Explore for everyone, without anything that identifies you.

What stays on your phone

Favourites, the last menu you opened, your settings and reminders stay on your phone. Reminders are scheduled on the phone, so we don't collect a push notification token.

Permissions

Snappy Menu doesn't ask for your location, microphone or contacts.

• Camera, to photograph a menu.
• Photos, through the system picker, to choose a menu photo you already have.
• Notifications, if you allow them, for reminders.

Who processes it for us

We use these providers to run the app. Each handles data only to provide its service:

• OpenAI, to read menu photos and draw dish pictures.
• ElevenLabs, to say dish names aloud.
• Mixpanel, for usage analytics.
• RevenueCat, for subscriptions.
• Supabase and Railway, to store data and run our servers.

How long we keep it

• Menu photos: 30 days.
• Menus, dishes, history and daily usage counts: until you delete your data.
• Analytics: under our analytics provider's retention settings.

Your choices

In the app, go to Settings and tap Delete my data. It deletes your menu photos, menus, history and usage counts from our servers, and your favourites on your phone, straight away.

Uninstalling the app removes everything stored on your phone.

Security

Everything the app sends is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Menu photos are kept in private storage and opened only through short-lived links.

Children

Snappy Menu isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
